Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Dr. Emily Eckstein, a licensed marriage and family therapist with a doctorate in clinical psychology. I believe therapy is most effective when you feel genuinely understood, supported, and challenged in ways that promote meaningful growth.

I specialize in working with creatives, entrepreneurs, high-achieving professionals, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, identity exploration, life transitions, perfectionism, burnout, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences. Many of my clients are outwardly successful yet find themselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life they want to create.

My approach combines insight-oriented therapy with practical, evidence-based strategies, helping clients better understand long-standing patterns while developing tools to create lasting change. Whether you're working through relationship concerns, building healthier boundaries, managing stress, or reconnecting with your authentic self, I strive to create a collaborative space where you feel safe to explore, grow, and move toward the life you envision.

My approach to therapy

I take an integrative, collaborative approach to therapy because I believe there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Every client brings a unique story, so I tailor treatment to your individual needs, goals, and strengths.

My work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic, Narrative, and Gestalt approaches. Together, we'll explore how past experiences and long-standing patterns may be influencing your present while also building practical skills to manage emotions, improve relationships, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.

I strive to create a space where you feel both supported and challenged. My style is warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental, while also providing honest feedback when it can help foster growth. Whether you're processing a major life transition, working through relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck in recurring patterns, therapy is a collaborative process focused on creating meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic foundation. We'll explore what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I'll also ask about your personal history, relationships, and any past experiences that may help us better understand the patterns influencing your life today.

My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. There is no expectation to have everything figured out or to tell your entire story in one session. Together, we'll begin identifying your strengths, clarify your goals, and develop an approach that feels personalized to your needs. By the end of our first meeting, you'll have a clearer understanding of how we can work together and what to expect as therapy progresses.
