Emily Erskin

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles, California. I have over 9 years of experience working with adolescents and adults. I received my M.S. in Psychology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and my training background centers around grief/loss, trauma and attachment disruptions.

I work with adults and adolescents navigating loss, trauma, and the kind of anxiety that makes ordinary things feel impossible. If you are in a season of your life that does not look the way you expected, or you are carrying something you cannot quite name, I am interested in that. I am direct, I am inquisitive, and I will bring genuine warmth to every session.

My work is grounded in psychodynamic theory, which means we look at what is underneath; The patterns you find yourself repeating, beliefs formed before you could name them, the ways your past experiences shape your present.

Together, we will focus on:

1. Building a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships

2. Developing practical, internal skills to handle challenges as they arise

3. Identifying meaningful & realistic new ways of living, relating, and moving forward with purpose and confidence

We will start by talking about what brought you in. There is no pressure to have everything figured out on day one — the first session is about beginning to build trust and giving you a sense of whether this feels like the right fit.

I offer weekday evening availability. All sessions are virtual through a HIPAA-secure platform, so you can connect from wherever you are in California. Booking is simple through my Headway profile, and getting started with insurance is handled entirely on Headway's end.
