Great to meet you!

I’m Emily Hoffman, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Tennessee with 3 years of experience supporting clients through anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, stress, and seasons of feeling overwhelmed or stuck. I work with teenagers and adults, especially young adults who are navigating major changes, identity questions, school or career shifts, relationships, and the pressure of figuring out what comes next. Many of the people I support are ready for change but unsure where to begin. My goal is to create a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space where you can be honest about what is going on, better understand your thoughts and emotions, and begin taking small, realistic steps toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, open-minded, empowering, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a supportive conversation where you feel heard, respected, and accepted. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Treatment, and Person-Centered Therapy. In session, this may look like identifying thought patterns that contribute to anxiety or depression, exploring what is already working in your life, building practical coping strategies, clarifying your goals, and creating small steps that help you move forward. I also support clients navigating ADHD, life transitions, relationship stress, emotional overwhelm, and self-understanding. My philosophy is that people grow when they feel safe, supported, and empowered to recognize the strengths they already carry.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will focus on getting to know each other and beginning to build a comfortable, supportive space. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you have been facing, and what you hope to gain from the process. I may ask about your background, current stressors, relationships, strengths, and important areas of your life so I can better understand your experience. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, stress, or feeling unsure about your next step, we will begin identifying goals and a direction for our work together. There is no pressure to share everything at once. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, supported, and clearer about how therapy can help you move forward.
