Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Emily, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Prior to becoming a licensed therapist, I spent ten years working in counseling and advocacy roles supporting individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual trauma. That experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the complexities of people's lives, relationships, and the circumstances that shape them. It also laid the foundation for the trauma-informed perspective I bring to my work today.

Currently, I work adults and adolescents navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, and borderline personality disorder (BPD). I also help people work through relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation, and life transitions.

I also work with couples and families, with in-person appointments planned once my office is established

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, curious, and collaborative. I value taking the time to understand your experiences and what matters most to you, while also helping you find practical ways to move forward.

I don't believe therapy needs to be all reflection or all problem-solving; there's room for both. Depending on your needs and goals, our work may involve exploring past experiences, examining underlying beliefs, challenging unhelpful ways of thinking, or developing new ways to navigate life's challenges. I'll offer support and understanding, but I'm also comfortable asking thoughtful questions and gently challenging you when I think it may help you grow.

My goal is to help you build greater self-understanding, confidence, and tools to make meaningful changes in your life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin exploring what brings you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, relevant background, and what you're hoping to gain from our work together, while leaving room for you to share what's most important to you.

There's no expectation that you'll have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. We'll take some time to understand what's going on in your life, identify your goals, and begin developing a direction for our work together. I also welcome any questions you have about the process or what working together might look like.
