Great to meet you!

Dr. Emily Rose Penna is a warm, nature-loving psychologist who proudly embraces her “hippie therapist” identity — often found happily roller-skating to 70’s music or crafting, while inspiring others to live in harmony with themselves and the planet

My approach to therapy

Dr. Emily Rose enjoys working with adolescents and adults, offering intuitive and individualized care that is grounded in evidence-based therapy approaches. This means she uses well-researched methods that help clients understand their thoughts, manage emotions, and change unhelpful patterns in a practical, supportive way.

Her work may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): identifying and changing thought patterns that affect mood and behavior
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): building skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and healthier relationships
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): helping clients process and reframe the impact of trauma
  • Prolonged Exposure (PE): gently and safely reducing trauma-related distress over time

All approaches are tailored to meet each client’s unique needs, goals, and pace.

Passionate about serving underserved communities, her clinical experience includes working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, survivors of human trafficking, and those experiencing homelessness, with a strong focus on trauma-informed care.

What you can expect from me

Inside and outside the therapy room, Dr. Emily Rose believes in “doing the work” alongside her clients —leading with honesty, curiosity, and a deep commitment to both her own and her clients’ healing journeys. She strives to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel truly seen and understood, while gently empowering them to grow into their ideal selves. In your first therapy session, expect her to collect a brief background history, focused on getting to know you better as well as to come up with some goals for yourself in therapy.
