Great to meet you!

Has life been feeling overwhelming lately, leaving you wishing you could talk to someone who truly listens to your worries? I enjoy helping people navigate life's challenges while they discover their inner strengths and regain hope. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Rural Illinois, where I received my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Illinois University. My primary focus is on children, families, and the LGBTQIA+ community. Let's take that scary first step together and start your healing journey, as you are so worth it!

My approach to therapy

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify thought patterns and reshape them into healthier ways of thinking, thereby furthering their progress in healing that is holding them back. I also utilize Person Centered Therapy techniques throughout the session, allowing the client to explore their own thoughts and feelings while trying to see the world from your perspective to better understand what you may need from me. Additionally, helping you better understand your own experience to help with growth and acceptance in your own life. When working with children, I primarily use Play Therapy Techniques to help children learn to express and explore their emotions while developing ways to cope. I believe in building a strong therapeutic alliance by offering unconditional positive regard while providing a safe environment for the free expression of emotions. This will help children reduce troubling mental health symptoms and improve how they communicate their emotions.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a time to get to know one another, where we will discuss what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve in therapy. This is the perfect time to ask questions you may have regarding therapy. An assessment will be worked on in the first session to assist with getting to know one another and learn more about the goals you want to accomplish in therapy. This is the perfect time to discuss what areas you want addressed first.
