Great to meet you!

You have it all together, but on the inside, you're exhausted, overwhelmed, and internally falling apart. You're the strong on. The dependable one. The one who keeps going no matter what. But underneath all of that, something is hurting, and you're tired of carrying it alone. If you're a woman in Alabama navigating grief, trauma, or a life that no longer feels like your own, you're in the right place. Many of the women I work with are high-functioning, deeply caring, and used to putting everyone else first. They're not falling apart on the outside, but they're struggling with unresolved feelings, complicated grief, trauma that resurfaces without warning, or the weight of a major life change. If that sounds like you, I want you to know: I see you, and this work is for you.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE & BACKGROUND

I'm Emma Quadlander-Goff, Ph.D. LPC, NCC, a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor specializing in grief and trauma therapy for adult women.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

My journey in this work began with a Bachelor's in Psychology from Southwestern University, followed by a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology with a specialty in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University. I earned my Doctorate in Counselor Education from Auburn University, where my research focused on grief, bereavement, and the training of counselors. This combination of advanced training gives me both deep clinical knowledge and a commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in the mental health field.

My approach to therapy

I use a range of evidence-based modalities tailored to your needs: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) for processing difficult emotions, Narrative Therapy for reclaiming your story, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation, impulse control, and distress tolerance, and Gottman Method for couples work.

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I meet you where you are and build a treatment plan that honors your unique experience.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, you can expect a collaborative conversation where we begin getting to know each other. This is your space to share what you brought to therapy, what feels most pressing right now, and what you're hoping to gain from working together.

You don't need to have the "right" words. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive, and there's no pressure to share more than you're ready for. I'll ask thoughtful questions to help us identify a starting point that feels right, especially if you're navigating grief, trauma, or emotional overwhelm.

We'll talk about how we can work together using a trauma-informed approach to support healing, emotional regulation, and value-based changes in your daily life.
