Great to meet you!

My name is Emmogene “Emma” Chepely, and I’m glad you’re here. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Counseling from Webster University. For over 6 years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including in inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment, outpatient at a community mental health agency, then online therapy on different platforms, at a group therapy practice, and then, finally, my own private practice. I’ve specialized in trauma and LGBTQ+ issues for 4 years.

My approach to therapy

I use a variety of techniques and approaches to provide a safe place in which people can grow, learn and work toward their goals. I tend to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an approach that focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors all affect each other, but I also use other techniques and tools to personalize treatment for each person. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to treat Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.

What you can expect from me

I believe in creating an environment of safety, trust, and acceptance in order to help people learn how to begin to provide those things for themselves. I use warmth, empathy, humor, and genuineness in order to create that environment and make therapy feel like a place where you can be yourself with no judgment and where you can share and learn effectively.
