Dr. Perkins is a graduate of Howard University's School of Social Work graduate. Perkins received his Master of Social Work degree in May 1986 and his Doctor of Social Work degree in May 2006. In addition to being a clinician, he is also a tenured Associate Professor of Social Work. Dr. Perkins' area of specialization is HIV/AIDS and Mental Health.

Dr. Perkins is a culturally sensitive and relevant therapist. He has over 40 years of addressing the needs of persons, families, and groups seeking therapeutic interventions. He has two clinical licenses, one as a licensed clinical social worker in New Jersey and one as a licensed Marriage and Frailly therapist in Washington, DC. Dr. Perkins' licenses include one as a licensed clinical social worker in New Jersey and one as a licensed Marriage and Family. He is non-judgmental and always starts where the client understands their current psychosocial situation without being biased.
