Great to meet you!

My name is Eric Zhang and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. My main employment is with San Bernardino County Superintendent of School – Student Service Counseling Center (SBCSS – SSCC), where I work in the county’s special education and alternative education school sites. At the county school sites I have the privilege to provide individual and group counseling to students between the ages of 10 to 22 and provide both school staff and student families with collateral/collaborative support. In my experience I have help students address issues of impulse control, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-harm, bereavement and loss, family separation, homelessness and other mental health issues. Many of the students come from low SES neighborhoods and carry a lot of trauma with them, which provides me with the opportunity to provide trauma informed care. I also work with many students in special education, many of whom have emotional regulation struggles, which allows me the opportunity to exercise various social-emotional learning strategies.

My approach to therapy

I believe that one of the main goals of therapy is to provide people the opportunities to undergo corrective experiences. In order to create the most optimal environment for corrective experiences to happen, I believe that it is imperative to have a clear and open two-way relationship. This means that I will always approach each client with an open mind and aim to understand individual struggles. This also means that I believe in transparency on my behalf as a therapist when the situation calls for it.

What you can expect from me

My intent with each client is to help people develop clarity and insight to themselves and their responses to situations. I believe that this is the best way to help clients develop personal growth.
