Great to meet you!

My name is Erika Lowry, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Stony Brook University. I have 6 years of clinical experience providing comprehensive mental health care to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

I have a particular passion for working with children and young people — supporting them through ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and the family dynamics that so often shape their mental health. I also work with adults and seniors navigating PTSD, OCD, panic disorders, sleep difficulties, stress, and women's mental health concerns.

What makes my practice distinctive is that I offer both individual and couples therapy — rare for a psychiatric NP, and especially valuable for couples where one or both partners are managing mental health challenges that are affecting the relationship.

My approach to therapy

My approach is holistic, person-centered, and genuinely attentive — shaped by a deep belief that every person deserves to feel understood before they feel treated.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and shift the thought patterns and behaviors fueling anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and stress. CBT is structured and practical, equipping clients with tools that extend well beyond our sessions.

I draw on Behavioral Therapy for targeted skill-building — particularly helpful for children and adolescents developing foundational coping strategies, as well as adults managing impulse, mood, or behavioral patterns.

For couples, I use Solution Focused Couples Therapy — a forward-oriented approach that helps partners identify what's working, clarify shared goals, and build practical communication strategies together. Rather than rehashing every conflict, we focus on where you want to go and how to get there.

Throughout all of my work, I prioritize building real therapeutic relationships — because the quality of the relationship between provider and client is itself part of what heals.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I want you to feel at ease from the moment we begin. I create a warm, welcoming environment where you can speak openly about what's brought you in — without pressure, without judgment, and at whatever pace feels comfortable.

We'll talk about your history, your current concerns, and what you're hoping to get from our work together. For children and families, I'll make space for both the young person and their caregivers to share their perspectives — because both matter. For couples, I'll spend time understanding each partner's experience and what you're working toward together.

By the end of our first session, we'll have a beginning plan and a shared sense of direction. I'll make sure you leave feeling informed, supported, and genuinely optimistic about what comes next.
