Great to meet you!

I'm Erin Evanson-Lass, LCSW-S, an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, in 2010, and I've been in clinical practice since 2011. I'm also a U.S. Army Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, which gives me a personal understanding of service, sacrifice, and the kind of weight people carry long after a mission — literal or figurative — ends. My clinical focus is trauma treatment, and I specialize in EMDR, attachment-based work, and polyvagal-informed care. I work with clients who are ready to address not just what happened to them, but how it's still showing up in their body, relationships, and day-to-day life.

My approach to therapy

My approach is trauma-focused, attachment-based, and grounded in polyvagal theory — meaning I pay close attention to your nervous system, not just your narrative. Traditional talk therapy has its place, but trauma often isn't something you can think your way out of, so I rely heavily on EMDR to help process experiences that feel "stuck" or unresolved. I work collaboratively, not from a clinical distance — therapy with me should feel like partnership, not evaluation. I adjust pace and intensity to fit each client: some do best with steady weekly sessions, others benefit from more focused, intensive formats. In every case, we build safety and stabilization first before moving into deeper material.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about orientation, not diving straight into trauma processing. I want to understand your history, what's bringing you in now, and what "better" would concretely look like for you — not just "feeling less anxious," but specific, meaningful change. We'll talk through your nervous system's patterns, any past therapy experience, and what has or hasn't worked before. I aim to create a calm, non-judgmental space with no pressure to perform or have the "right" answers. By the end of the session, you should have a working sense of what treatment could look like, a rough plan, and confidence that you're only sharing what you're ready to share.
