Great to meet you!

I entered the field of counseling after working overseas for a number of years and recognizing the universal need for someone to walk beside us in our challenging moments. I studied counseling at Divine Mercy University and completed specific internships working with trauma and trafficking victims and refugees, as well as families, children, adults, and couples. I have continued working with all of these populations in my practice. I do speak Amharic as well.

A bit about my approach to therapy

It can be so intimidating to feel pressured to expose the most vulnerable parts of your story to a person you barely know. Therapy is a relationship that builds, and my hope is that clients feel comfortable setting the pace. Although I integrate many modes of therapy into session depending on the client's needs, I am always person-centered, because each individual has a unique story and needs.

What you can expect from our first session

Many clients say they feel better even after an initial session with me, often describing a weight lifted and a feeling of hope. My goal is that each client feels validated and not alone, while also feeling empowered and challenged to take an active part in their own recovery.
