Great to meet you!

Hi, I am Esme Yarnell L.C.S.W. I have been in practice for over five years now and as a queer counselor, I look to empower clients to love and embrace their authentic selves.

I use Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, mindfulness skills, and animal-assisted interventions with clients. I utilize a strengths-based approach and trauma-informed lens to allow clients to create the life they envison for themselves.

My approach to therapy

I believe everyone needs to be met with compassion and acceptance because it takes courage to come to counseling. I like to focus on individual and family (or chosen family) strengths/supports. I utilize a trauma-informed lens and internal family systems theory to allow clients to explore how their past impacts their present and to develop healthier patterns.

What you can expect from me

I work collaboratively with clients to develop a plan to manage challenges, make changes, and build skills. At the end of sessions, I like my clients to feel as though they are getting one step closer to their goals. For some, this might look like reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. For others, it may look like developing skills or processing past trauma.
