Great to meet you!

Experiencing significant traumatic loss throughout my life is ultimately what called me to this work. I believe that grief is life's greatest teacher when we allow ourselves to move through the process and be transformed by it. My work is also deeply informed by decades of experience navigating my own marginalized identities (transgender, queer, AuDHD) and the tension between attachment and authenticity. I understand how this tension, alongside minority stress impacts every aspect of our lives, including how we show up with ourselves, in our relationships and in the world.

My education background in Cultural Studies, Women and Gender studies, Wilderness therapy and psychedelic assisted therapy, profoundly impacts my view of therapy. I understand how unique we are as individuals and that culture, life experience and values play a significant role in how we see the world. This has instilled in me a growing curiosity to get to know people's stories and informs my position that clients are always the experts in themselves.

I have worked with LGBTQ+ folks to explore identity, attachment, authenticity, values and self-compassion. I have also worked with transgender folks to explore the unique path for them in every step of the process; from questioning to transitioning to disclosing. Additional treatment areas include anxiety, depression, relationships and communication.

My approach to therapy

I am a client centered therapist, which means that I believe my clients are the experts in their own lives. I believe that we each already carry the tools to heal ourselves, and therapy is about slowing down enough to tune into our inner healing intelligence. I view my role as an educator and an advocate, providing clients with the skills to bring compassion and curiosity to their inner world. I bring a grounded presence to each session and work to create a safe container for emotions to be explored.

My work is holistic in nature, with a deep understanding that each client's story is unique. Through a trauma-informed lens, I draw from parts work, somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy to tailor the right skill set for each client to achieve their goals. I believe that healing happens in connection, and that the therapeutic relationship is just as important as any tools or theories we will explore together.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know each other and building the foundation for our work together. I'll ask about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping therapy can shift, and we'll start shaping goals collaboratively from there. Expect a warm, inviting and spacious environment that’s grounded in curiosity and compassion. My goal in that first meeting is for you to leave feeling heard and to have a clearer sense of whether we're a good fit to keep working together. From there, we will start to build a shared language as I learn more about you and we collaborate together on treatment approaches. My hope is that throughout our work together, you will build more awareness of your internal world, more control over unwanted thoughts and more understanding of the stories you tell yourself.
