Great to meet you!

“Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.. It's about learning to dance in the rain.”

― Vivian Greene

I believe that life has its struggles for all of us, but with caring and dedicated people in our lives, we can learn to dance in the rain, as Vivian Green says. In my free time, I enjoy being in nature, doing crafts, going to concerts, traveling, exploring, spending time with family and friends, and continuing to learn. I have been working with people with emotional disabilities since 1999. I have been in the mental health field since 2007 with a variety of experiences. I obtained my MSW in 2024 and have been enjoying providing quality therapy services since.

My approach to therapy

Most importantly, my approach supports you in the space you are in and provides a nonjudgmental, safe, and encouraging space for you to feel better! I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals identify and change negative or unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors to improve their emotional state and daily functioning. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) helps individuals create "a life worth living" by replacing problem behaviors with skillful ones and increasing their capacity to manage intense emotions. I love the quote from DBT “You are doing the best you can, at the moment you are in, with what you have, but I can do better tomorrow” and “You are doing the best you can, at the moment you are in, with what you have, but I can do better tomorrow” and “Radical acceptance rests on letting go of the illusion of control and a willingness to notice and accept things as they are right now, without judging.” Person-centered therapy is a non-directive approach where the client leads the sessions, focusing on self-discovery and personal growth. Lastly, Solution Focused Therapy has an objective that is defined by the desired future state, focusing on what the individual wants to achieve rather than dwelling on problems.

I am also trained in sexual abuse trauma, art therapy techniques, sand tray techniques, trauma-informed care, autism, and substance use. I have compassion and empathy for people in all areas. My goal is to create a safe space to foster a genuine and trusting relationship that allows us to work together to set you on the path to achieving your goals and feel more equipped to step into life’s challenges.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. I’ll ask some questions to understand what’s bringing you in and gather some background information. We’ll also talk about what you’d like to get out of therapy so we can begin setting goals together.

I’ll ask about different areas of your life—like your health, emotions, and relationships—to get a full picture of what’s going on. Just as important, we’ll make sure you feel comfortable and that this feels like a safe, supportive space for you.
