Great to meet you!

Hello: Welcome to Headway, I am glad you have taken the opportunity to grow and become the person you wish to be. I have been a therapist foir over 40 years and I am a firmly believe that therapy works and helps both the client and the therapist. It requires work, changing our habitual way of relating and communicating changes how we interact with and practicing the new skills makes all the difference. Therapy is nolonger just talk therapy, it also includes learning trhe skills to manage our lives better, and that has made all the difference. I focus oin un derstanding eachj client wiuthin their cultural and gender identity to make therapy relaevant to the client's world rather than a textbook approach. I have published two books, several articles and book chapters sharing my approach to therapy.

My approach to therapy

I am client-centered, solution-focused, and participatory with my clients. I believe that the solutions to issues must be relevant for thge client in his, her, or there world. This requires my ability to understand the client's worldview and cultural identity to make therapeutic approaches meaningful to clients. I am warm, caring, and at times humorous, but neveer at the expense of another. I relate well with people and enjoy working with folks in this diverse society.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to primnarily feel supported and respected for their values and concerns. They can expect a goal oriented approach that will help in keeping the focus on their needs and why they came to therapy. As a part of the therapeutic process, clients will learn more about themselves, especially information about how others pereceive them as we do not have objectivity about ourselves and the process will help provide greater insight into their behavior. They can expect the process to empower them, which will increase their self confidence and ability to function effectively in their world.
