Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Felipe (aka Armando) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas. I am happily married to an amazing wife of 20 years now with two teens. What lead me to the field of counseling (specifically for men) was my observation of behaviors in men growing up that looked like passivity, bottled up emotions, lack of emotional control, difficulty with communication, and repeated unhealthy patterns within the family line. Some of these have been my very own, and I am definitely a work in progress who still doesn't have it all figured out yet. Nonetheless, it's mattered enough to me to pursue a license in this area and serve other men who may be struggling in these areas and need a little support on their healing journey.

MESSAGE TO MEN

Maybe this is you where you are noticing some unwanted patterns of your own or coping with stressors in unhealthy ways. Maybe you've been shouldering some unspoken issues that need a release valve. Maybe you just need some clarity about what to do next or how to make sense of the ruminating thoughts you've been having that don't seem to settle down. The passage of time doesn't make things any better because as dads and husbands there is always something that needs to get done next or needing your attention. Before you know it, days have turned into weeks, which have turned into months, and so on. But what if that "next thing" became a weekly session with a counselor you could trust to support your progress in the area you want to focus on? What difference would that make in your personal life and relationships around you? I'd like to offer this lifeline of support if it's something you'd like to pursue.

My approach to therapy

My clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and trauma-informed interventions. Our work will be practical and focused: identifying patterns, challenging distorted beliefs, strengthening emotional regulation, and addressing unresolved experiences that continue to shape your present life.I practice from a Christ-centered worldview that meaningfully informs my case conceptualization, work plan, and practical strategies that are evidenced-based. I believe psychological growth and spiritual formation are not separate processes. For clients who desire it, we can intentionally incorporate prayer, Biblical truth, and faith-based reflection into the work. This integration is collaborative and respectful of your pace, but it is an integral part of how I understand lasting change.

What you can expect from me

During our first session we'll go through some intake questions at a pace that is comfortable for you which will give me a broader understanding of your background and really just to get to know one another...no stress! Sometimes the intake will take an additional session if need be.
