Great to meet you!
I'm Fernanda Janone Vaz, and I provide therapy for adults and children throughout California.
My perspective is guided by the belief that our emotions, behaviors, relationships, and sense of self are shaped by the experiences we have across our lifespan, particularly within the context of our early relationships
My goal is to understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped the challenges my clients are experiencing today, while also supporting them in developing the tools and strategies needed to navigate what is impacting their lives in the present. I believe therapy can hold space for both deeper exploration and meaningful change in the here and now.
The foundation of my clinical training began with my Master of Science (M.S.) in Early Childhood and Family Clinical Counseling from San Diego State University (SDSU). I also completed the Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Transdisciplinary Education and Mental Health (EC-TEaMH) at SDSU, which focuses on infant, family, and early childhood mental health. This specialized training emphasizes supporting parents and educators in promoting the social-emotional development and well-being of infants and children.
I am currently completing the Somatic Experiencing® Training Program and have been studying Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) for the past three years. Both approaches have expanded my understanding of how our relationships, emotions, and nervous system interact to shape our experiences throughout life.
