Great to meet you!

I'm Flavia Robey, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), MSN, BSN, RN. My path here wasn't a straight line — I began my career as a dentist in Brazil, specializing in the treatment of special needs patients and in dental forensics, before immigrating to the U.S. and rebuilding my career from the ground up, earning my BSN from Rutgers School of Nursing and my MSN/PMHNP certification from Chamberlain University.

That journey is deeply relevant to how I practice. Reinventing myself in a new country meant learning a new language, adapting to a new healthcare system, and starting over professionally — while holding onto who I was and discovering who I was becoming. I know firsthand what it takes to move through setbacks, uncertainty, and real change, and how those experiences can ultimately build resilience, character, and a stronger sense of purpose. I bring that lived understanding into every session, along with the cultural sensitivity that comes from being bilingual in English and Portuguese.

I provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for adults and adolescents, treating anxiety, depression, panic disorder, OCD, and ADHD. What sets my care apart is that I don't stop at symptom management — I look beyond the presenting symptoms to the biological, genetic, and nutritional factors that may be driving them. This includes pharmacogenomic testing, micronutrient and metabolic assessment, and targeted nutritional strategies, integrated alongside evidence-based psychiatric care, so treatment addresses root causes rather than just covering up what's on the surface.

Outside of clinical work, I'm a mother, and faith and quality of life are personal anchors for me. That perspective informs how I practice — with an emphasis on care that is thoughtful, sustainable, and grounded in each client's individual circumstances.

My approach to therapy

Tired of medication after medication without real answers — or side effects that never quite make sense? You deserve care that looks deeper than symptoms.

My approach is collaborative and integrative, rooted in addressing the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. I look at the biological, nutritional, metabolic, and lifestyle factors behind what you're experiencing — including sleep, gut-brain health, and stress physiology — so your plan is built around you, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

I combine evidence-based medication management with nutritional psychiatry, lifestyle strategies, and supportive therapy. When appropriate, pharmacogenomic testing brings clarity and precision to medication choices, minimizing side effects and reducing years of trial and error. Together, through collaboration and education, we'll work toward not just symptom relief, but real, sustainable healing.

What you can expect from me

Not sure where to even start explaining what you're going through? Your first session is a real conversation, not a rushed intake. We'll talk through your history, your current struggles, and the factors that matter — sleep, nutrition, stress, past medication experiences — so nothing important gets missed. Together, we'll begin shaping a plan built specifically around you, including pharmacogenomic testing or other integrative options if they're a fit. You'll leave with clarity on what's next, not more unanswered questions.
