My philosophy is that experiences and people in our lives influence our behaviors, perspective on life and even impact the decisions we make. However, our past does not have to define our present or determine our future. The way in which we think about things impacts how we feel, and ultimately how we behave or react. In becoming aware of the factors that influence us and working through their impact, we have the ability to make the changes we need to live the life we want.
You are the expert of your own journey and will have a critical and active role in therapy. I will not give you advice or tell you what to do, but I will guide you in making decisions that work best for you, help you through moments when you feel "stuck", and lead you to achieving your goals.
The philosophy I described is a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and a strength-based, collaborative approach.
