Great to meet you!
I'm Florence Chiang, DSW, LCSW— a licensed clinical social worker with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Boston University, a Master of Social Work from the Graduate School of Social Service at Fordham University, and a Doctor of Social Work from LIU Brooklyn, where my research centered on the social and emotional experiences of immigrant youth and families through a socio-ecological perspective — exploring the perspectives of those who bully others and working to understand the roots of (peer) aggressive behavior. My doctoral research also includes a focus on the experiences of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) populations, with the aim of identifying gaps in current interventions and informing more effective, culturally responsive approaches within K-12 and higher education settings, including research on the impact of COVID-19 and the accompanying rise in anti-Asian discrimination on AANHPI communities.
In my clinical work, I support clients navigating anxiety, trauma, and the layered dynamics that surface within families and across generations.
