Great to meet you!

Frances VanBockel, PsyD, LPCC, is a US Army Veteran, Advanced Practice Registered Trauma Nurse, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a PhD in Health Psychology. With over 20 years of experience, she is dedicated to helping clients identify their strengths and improve their overall quality of life. Her approach is holistic and supportive, focusing on helping clients explore options for navigating life’s challenges and stressors while building resilience and emotional balance.

Frances believes that every individual already holds strengths that can support healing and growth. She works collaboratively with clients to help them gain insight, develop coping strategies, and move toward greater stability and well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is holistic, strengths-based, and collaborative. I believe each person already has inner strengths they can build on, and my role is to help you recognize and use those resources while navigating life’s challenges. I integrate mind-body awareness, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based techniques to support emotional healing, resilience, and overall well-being. Together, we focus on identifying options, developing coping strategies, and creating practical steps toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where we begin getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss your current concerns, personal history as needed, and what you hope to gain from treatment. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and feel out whether we’re a good fit. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and outlining a direction for therapy that feels comfortable, collaborative, and tailored to your needs.
