Great to meet you!

I have over 25 years of experience as a psychologist, most often working with high-achieving and creative individuals in university settings or private practice. My expertise blends my formal clinical training with my passion for music, film, and literature, as well as the ways that one's spirituality informs their life experience.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I take a somewhat poetic cognitive approach, helping clients pay attention to how their thinking tendencies inform their perspective, their emotions, and their relationships. I also help clients explore how prior life experiences inform how they experience life now, offering more awareness of what they wish to change or simply be more aware of, as they face the issues that bring them to therapy. Finally, I incorporate how personal and social identities inform our life experiences.

What you can expect from our first session

Therapy goals usually involve adding nuance to client's perspective, curiosity about the positive possibilities in their life, and greater confidence about themselves or decisions they need to make. My clients share that our work gave them a different perspective that was helpful, if not empowering. Ultimately, my goal is to make therapy less necessary, as clients heal and grow to the point that they confidently face their challenges outside the 50-minute hour.
