Great to meet you!

I’m Gary Lee Harrel, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 30 years of clinical experience. I have supported diverse populations with stress, anxiety, addictions, LGBTQ+ concerns, relationship issues, depression, trauma, and Christian counseling. My experience also includes serious mental illness, terminal illness, substance use, co-occurring disorders, medical social work, and work with homeless veterans in inpatient and outpatient settings.

My approach to therapy

I consider myself a generalist practitioner and draw from client-centered therapy, CBT, existential therapy, relationship therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I tailor our work to your needs and offer unconditional positive regard. I believe everyone deserves space to express feelings safely while learning healthy techniques and actions to manage life’s challenges.

What you can expect from me

I strive to create an empathetic, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your feelings without fear or shame. In our first session, we will begin getting to know you, your concerns, and what you hope to accomplish in therapy. Together, we can identify helpful goals and approaches for your care. My aim is to empower you to overcome challenges and lead a fulfilling life, with support, humor, and Southern charm.
