Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Genelle Black, owner of Chrysalis Counseling and Consulting. I have over a decade and a half of experience working with all ages in school, correctional, community mental health and private practice settings. I provide individual, group and family counseling for children, adolescents and young adults dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions and more.

My approach to therapy

I utilize a client-centered, trauma-informed approach that empowers clients to direct the sessions and flow of treatment. Using art, play and other creative therapeutic techniques in addition to talk therapy I provide clients with a variety of ways to express and process their emotions.

What you can expect from me

Many times, when clients come to me, parents are overwhelmed or the client themselves are stressed out, depressed or acting out behaviorally. Once treatment begins, the client will have coping skills to help them in times of distress. They will understand their thoughts and feelings better and may start to share their feelings in healthier ways.
