Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Gertie and I welcome you to my practice. I gained my degree in another country, and it is equivalent to a doctorate degree from any college or university in the United States. I had my doctoral internship in New York and I gained a rewarding experience in working with teens in the juvenile court system during that time. When I moved to California after my internship, I continued to study in areas with the intent to provide for needs of clients who are less served. I found a lot of inspiration and internal reward in making myself available to my clients especially when I felt that I made a difference in their lives.

My approach to therapy

With more than 30 years of experience in the field of psychology, I gained valuable clinical knowledge and improved my mastery of psychotherapy. I continue to enhance my skills in a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities, which is important in making sure that I can be of appropriate assistance to clients who seek help. I believe that active listening, providing empathy and showing genuine compassion, walking with someone in their path of healing and recovery are the key to achieving a sense of awareness, clarity and find the balance between change and acceptance.

What you can expect from me

As we start our session, I welcome any questions you may have about your expectations in therapy. I plan to provide an environment of openness and warmth, in order to make you feel comfortable. I am willing to listen attentively and also invite you to identify specific goals you might have in therapy, so we can collaborate in identifying ways to achieve them effectively.
