Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Gia Short, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other common mood and mental health concerns.

My background includes many years of experience in healthcare, which has shaped my belief that mental health care should be individualized, respectful, and collaborative. I focus on medication management while also considering sleep, stress, relationships, daily functioning, and other factors that may affect your overall well-being.

My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you feel heard and involved in decisions about your treatment.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, supportive, and patient-centered. I believe treatment works best when we work together rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

I take time to understand your symptoms, concerns, treatment history, and goals before developing a treatment plan. When medication is appropriate, I will discuss your options in clear, understandable language, including the expected benefits and possible side effects.

I commonly work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, mood changes, sleep concerns, and related mental health conditions. My practice focuses on routine outpatient psychiatric care and medication management and is not intended for emergency or crisis services.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, we’ll spend time getting to know you and understanding what brought you to care. We’ll discuss your current symptoms, mental health and medical history, previous treatments and medications, sleep, daily functioning, and what you would like to improve.

You can expect a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment where you have an opportunity to ask questions and share your concerns. By the end of the visit, my goal is for us to have a clear understanding of your needs and, when appropriate, a treatment plan that may include medication, lifestyle recommendations, additional evaluation, or other supportive resources.
