Great to meet you!

I'm delighted to extend a warm welcome to you. My name is Gilbertte "Melissa" Berthier. I am a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) leading our empowering individual and group sessions. I have a master's level background in clinical social work and over 7 years of dedicated experience in the field.

My journey into individual and group therapy began with a profound appreciation for the transformative power of integrating evidence-based therapeutic approaches with the faith, spirituality, values, and beliefs that are meaningful to each client.

I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with grace, resilience, and faith. This commitment inspired me to create a nurturing space where individuals, particularly women, can find support and healing while deepening their relationship with God.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is holistic, compassionate, and grounded in meeting you exactly where you are. I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches with the faith, spirituality, values, and beliefs that are meaningful to you. For clients who desire a Christian perspective, I also welcome the opportunity to thoughtfully incorporate Christian faith and spiritual principles into the therapeutic process.

There is a heaviness in this world, and sometimes we find ourselves carrying pain, expectations, guilt, grief, or burdens we were never meant to carry alone. Together, we can begin to understand what you are carrying, what may be ready to be released, and what you need to move forward with greater peace, clarity, and resilience.

I support clients navigating stress, anxiety, past trauma, grief and loss, relationship challenges, forgiveness, boundaries, and personal or spiritual growth. Self-compassion is also an important part of my approach. We can be incredibly hard on ourselves for not knowing how to navigate circumstances we have never encountered before. I believe it is unfair to expect ourselves to already possess every tool or skill needed for life’s uncharted places.

Therapy can be a space to set down self-blame, better understand yourself and your experiences, and develop skills you may not have had the opportunity to learn before. My goal is to equip you with practical, lifelong tools for navigating challenges, establishing healthy boundaries, processing grief, practicing forgiveness, strengthening relationships, and approaching yourself with greater compassion.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for me to meet you exactly where you are. You do not need to have everything figured out, know exactly what to say, or arrive with all the answers. You simply need to come as you are.

We’ll spend time getting to know one another and exploring what brought you to therapy, what has been weighing on you, and what you hope might be different in your life. I’ll also ask questions to better understand your experiences, relationships, strengths, challenges, and the parts of your story that feel important to you. If faith or spirituality is meaningful to you, we can talk about how you would like that to be incorporated into our work together.

Most importantly, I want you to feel heard, supported, and comfortable moving at a pace that honors where you are. There is no expectation that everything needs to be unpacked or resolved in our first meeting. Sometimes the first step is simply having a safe place to set down what you have been carrying.

From there, we’ll begin identifying your goals and the tools and support that may help you move toward them. When the road ahead feels overwhelming, you do not have to see the entire path. I’m here to help you put one foot in front of the other as we take the next steps together.
