Great to meet you!

As someone who has experienced mental health challenges because of trauma, I understand how life can become overwhelming and challenging. However, with a willingness and time, one can choose to thrive, not despite their experiences, but because of them.

I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Texas at San Antonio. My goal in earning my MSW was to help whoever I encountered with the help that was difficult for me to find. However, once I found that help, I learned how transformative it can be.

I am a Gold Star widow with five (adult) children and four grandchildren. I love spending time with my family, whether traveling or watching movies. I also have six furry "children" that fill my life with joy: four dogs and two cats.

The areas I have worked primarily in are PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, and grief and loss. I also have experience with chronic pain issues.

My approach to therapy

I primarily use CBT with clients but am also trained in EMDR. I trained in EMDR because I know firsthand how healing it can be. I am also solution-oriented because clients are encouraged by the specific achievements they can recognize. I hear from many clients that I am nonjudgmental and a good listener.

What you can expect from me

The client can expect to feel heard and gain hope for a different outcome than they are currently experiencing. Therapy is not intended to tell clients what to do, but to journey with them through their challenges and envision a result that brings joy and acceptance, resulting in stability.
