Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. I’m Gio Strackbein, a licensed Professional Counselor with a deep commitment to supporting individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and greater self-understanding.

I hold a Degree, Master’s in Marriage and family counseling from Walden University, and I’ve been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. My clinical experience spans a range of settings, including private practice, and community mental health, which has allowed me to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of concerns.

Specialties and Treatment Focus

I specialize in helping clients manage:

  • Anxiety and stress-related disorders
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Life transitions and relationship challenges
  • Self-esteem and identity development

I use evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based strategies, and psychodynamic therapy. I also incorporate a strengths-based and culturally responsive perspective in my work.

My Approach

I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. I believe therapy is most effective when it’s grounded in trust and authenticity, and I work closely with each client to identify goals and explore patterns that may be holding them back.

I welcome adults and adolescents, and I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to meet you where you are.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and individualized because I believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, exploring difficult experiences, and working toward meaningful change at your own pace.

I use a trauma-informed approach and incorporate evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, positive psychology, and other approaches based on your individual needs and goals. Together, we may identify unhelpful thought patterns, understand how past experiences influence your present relationships and behaviors, develop healthier coping skills and boundaries, improve emotional regulation, and build greater self-awareness and confidence.

My style is compassionate and supportive while also being honest and encouraging. I believe therapy is a partnership, and I want you to leave sessions not only feeling heard and understood, but also with practical tools and greater insight that you can use in your everyday life. Whether you are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, codependency, grief, life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed or stuck, we will work together to create an approach that feels meaningful and supportive to you.
