Great to meet you!

I am a double board-certified Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience across the continuum of psychiatric care, including acute psychiatric emergencies, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, geriatric mental health, intellectual and developmental disability services, and healthcare management. I hold a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and am currently completing my Doctorate, reflecting my ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, and lifelong learning.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals and families navigating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, from situational anxiety and depression to severe and persistent mental illness. My clinical experience includes extensive work with schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma-related conditions, and mood instability across the lifespan. I am particularly experienced in caring for geriatric patients, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and patients with complex medication regimens requiring careful evaluation, simplification, and long-term stabilization.

I also work closely with college-aged patients and adults who are navigating academic pressure, career transitions, family dynamics, identity development, and the cumulative stressors that can emerge during periods of high responsibility or change. Many of my patients are high-functioning individuals who appear “put together” on the outside but struggle internally with anxiety, rumination, intrusive thoughts, emotional dysregulation, or burnout. Others are managing chronic psychiatric illness while striving to maintain independence, relationships, and quality of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to psychiatric care is collaborative, structured, and individualized. I believe effective mental health treatment requires a thoughtful balance of biological, psychological, and lifestyle factors, rather than relying on medication alone or oversimplified solutions. I take the time to understand each patient’s history, current stressors, strengths, and goals, and I prioritize shared decision-making so patients feel informed and empowered in their care.

I am particularly skilled in medication management, including complex cases involving partial treatment response, medication sensitivity, polypharmacy, and long-term use of psychiatric medications. Many patients I see have been on medications for years and are seeking either improved symptom control, fewer side effects, or a safer, more streamlined regimen. I approach these situations carefully, with respect for the patient’s history and concerns, and with a strong emphasis on safety, gradual change, and close monitoring.

At the same time, I do not view medication as the sole solution. I consistently incorporate lifestyle-based and behavioral interventions, including sleep regulation, nutrition, physical activity, stress management, mindfulness, and cognitive strategies. These interventions are not presented as vague recommendations, but as practical, realistic tools tailored to each individual’s circumstances and readiness for change. I believe that long-term mental health is best supported when patients understand how daily habits interact with brain chemistry, emotional regulation, and resilience.

What you can expect from me

Patients can expect a structured, respectful, and collaborative experience. I value punctuality, clear communication, and follow-through. I strive to create a space where patients feel safe discussing difficult topics without fear of judgment.

My goal is not simply symptom reduction, but meaningful improvement in daily functioning, emotional resilience, and quality of life. I understand that progress is not always linear, and I work with patients to adjust treatment plans as needed.
