Great to meet you!

Welcome! As a licensed professional counselor in practice since 2018, I work primarily with adults (ages 18+) for individual counseling and psychotherapy, with a focus on treating young and emerging adults as well as students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I welcome clients of all racial, gender, and sexual identities, although I specialize in working with men and male-identifying folks of all backgrounds. I treat a wide range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, life transitions, relationship and intimacy concerns, performance and productivity issues, problem substance use, and creative blocks. I am also certified in Prolonged Exposure therapy—a time-limited, empirically validated psychotherapy treatment for PTSD.

My approach to therapy

I don’t see therapy as simply a process of “fixing symptoms.” While you certainly can (and should!) expect therapy with me to bring relief from painful symptoms and unhelpful patterns, on a deeper level I like to view therapy as a space for thinking together about one’s relationships, history, desires, conflicts, and ways of making sense of oneself and others. My approach is relational, reflective, and insight-oriented. I believe that meaningful change often begins through developing a different kind of attention to one’s experience—helping us notice habits of thought and feeling that once served a purpose but now limit our freedom, relationships, or sense of possibility. Once we are able to understand ourselves more fully, with curiosity and compassion, we discover the courage and motivation to make the changes we need to live richer and more fulfilling lives.

What you can expect from me

I like to begin with an introductory session, where you’ll have the chance to share what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve from it. From the beginning, I try to create a space that is warm, thoughtful, collaborative, and curious. If we seem to be a good fit for each other, I like to proceed with a thorough assessment and personal history. From there, we’ll work together in the sessions that follow to reach a clearer understanding of your difficulties and identify strategies for bringing about desired change. At every step of the process, I will make space for you to share feedback on our work together to ensure that we are always focusing on what matters most to you.
