Great to meet you!
I began my nursing career after earning my BSN from the University of Virginia in 1996. Over the next 20+ years, I worked across a range of acute care settings, including oncology, cardiac step-down, women’s health, medical-surgical, transplant, and neurology.
Throughout those years, one thing became clear: mental health was often treated as secondary, even though it plays a central role in how people cope, heal, and move forward. I saw firsthand how anxiety, depression, and emotional stress could shape recovery just as much as any medical condition.
That realization led me back to school to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner, so I could focus more directly on supporting the mental and emotional well-being of my patients.
I’ve been working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner for the past three years, supporting both adolescents and adults through challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and other complex mental health concerns.
