Great to meet you!

I’m Goodnews Mcfiberesima, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing telehealth psychiatric care for teens and adults. I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy with a practical, evidence-based approach.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders (including bipolar spectrum), ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, and sleep difficulties. My style is collaborative and nonjudgmental, meaning we take time to understand what you’re going through, review treatment options together, and build a plan that fits your goals, values, and daily life. I believe in clear communication, thoughtful prescribing, and steady follow-up so you feel supported, not rushed, throughout your care.

My goal is simple: to help you feel more stable, confident, and equipped with tools that support long-term wellbeing.

My approach to therapy

I provide care using a client-centered, evidence-based approach focused on partnership and measurable progress.

What to expect

  • Comprehensive assessment: We review symptoms, history, current stressors, medical factors, and goals.
  • Shared decision-making: I explain treatment options and we decide together what fits best.
  • Thoughtful medication management: If medication is used, I prioritize safety, start low/go slow when appropriate, monitor effects closely, and adjust based on response and side effects.
  • Whole-person support: I integrate sleep and lifestyle strategies, coping skills, and brief supportive therapy as appropriate.
  • Ongoing follow-up: We track progress over time and refine the plan to support long-term stability.

Areas of focus Telehealth treatment for adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, and insomnia/sleep disruption.

What you can expect from me

During the first appointment, we will focus on a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and a treatment plan you can feel confident about.

We typically cover:

  • Your main concerns and symptoms (mood, anxiety, focus, sleep, trauma/stress, etc.)
  • When symptoms started, what makes them better/worse, and how they impact school/work and relationships
  • Current and past medications, therapy history, and what has/hasn’t helped
  • Medical history and relevant family history
  • Safety screening (suicidal thoughts, self-harm, harm to others), and a support plan if needed

What we aim to achieve by the end of the first session:

  • A clear understanding of what you’re experiencing and possible diagnoses
  • A collaborative treatment plan (therapy recommendations, skills/support strategies, and/or medication options)
  • If medication is started or adjusted: what to expect, how to take it, and what to monitor
  • A follow-up schedule and next-step goals

Environment: I strive to create a respectful, culturally sensitive, and judgment-free setting where you feel heard, supported, and involved in decisions—especially in telehealth, where comfort and privacy matter.
