Great to meet you!

I began the practice of professional counseling in 1991. My experience includes individual, group, family, and couples therapy. St. Mary's University, M.A., San Antonio, TX, dual specialization in counseling abd addictions. Focus: to design a goal-oriented, execute a resolution-focused plan. 12 post-graduate hours in Organizational Development, A&M Univ.

My approach to therapy

As a licensed therapist for 35 years, my approach is deeply rooted in solution-focused and goal-oriented methodologies. I believe in creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship where we work together to identify clear objectives and develop practical strategies to achieve meaningful change.

My dual specialization in counseling and addictions from St. Mary's University, combined with additional organizational development training from Texas A&M, allows me to integrate multiple evidence-based techniques tailored to your unique needs.

I view therapy as a structured journey toward resolution. In our work together, you can expect:

  • A thorough assessment of your current challenges and strengths
  • Development of specific, measurable goals
  • Regular evaluation of progress
  • Practical tools and strategies you can apply between sessions
  • A balance of compassionate support with accountability

While I recognize that understanding your history is important, my focus remains primarily on moving forward—identifying what's working, strengthening those elements, and finding solutions rather than dwelling exclusively on problems.

I've successfully applied this approach across individual, group, family, and couples therapy settings, adapting my methods to address diverse concerns including relationship challenges, addiction recovery, life transitions, and personal growth.

What you can expect from me

Working with me, clients can expect to leave each session with:

  • Concrete action steps that move them closer to their defined goals
  • Enhanced self-awareness and clarity about their challenges and strengths
  • Practical coping strategies they can immediately implement in daily life
  • A growing toolkit of evidence-based techniques tailored to their unique situation
  • Increased confidence in their ability to navigate difficult situations

I emphasize skill-building and measurable progress, so clients typically experience a sense of accomplishment as they develop new capabilities. My structured approach ensures that our work together has purpose and direction, with each session building upon previous insights.

Many clients report appreciating the balance between supportive validation and gentle challenging of unhelpful patterns. Rather than simply offering a space to talk, I provide guidance that promotes meaningful change while respecting each client's autonomy and wisdom about their own life.

Over time, clients develop greater resilience, improved problem-solving abilities, and a stronger sense of agency in creating the life they want. My goal is for adults, adolescents, couples, and families to eventually internalize the therapeutic process, becoming increasingly self-sufficient in managing challenges.
