Great to meet you!

Early in my life, I knew that my passion for life involved easing the pain of others. As part of that educational journey, I earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Child and Family Studies. Professionally, this education opened the door for me to work with a variety of populations in both the non-profit sector and in private practice. My work has largely focused on recovery from various traumatic events, alleviating the struggles of depression and anxiety, nurturing self-empowerment, identity carification, grief and loss, and improving interpersonal relationships.

My approach to therapy

While I believe that a healthy therapeutic relationship is fundamental, I also believe that you are the expert on yourself and, therefore, are capable of leading our process as you see fit. My job is not to offer advice or to tell you what you should do; rather, it is to shine the light on the paths you have chosen and help you evaluate if those paths are best for you. I also believe that the majority of my work is actively listening to you without judgment or criticism. There are other strategies I can use to help support you including examining and reframing unhelpful thoughts, using focused questioning to help you identify and reveal your goals and wishes, helping you prioritize these goals, and identifying useful strategies to help you reach them.

What you can expect from me

Initially, I want to make sure you have all of your questions answered about the therapy process. It's important that we are clear about your expectations. Also, it will be important to learn more about you, so our first session will involve allowing me to understand a little about who you are, how you think about things, and what you're hoping to work on. I want us both to be transparent and open so that we can begin to build the trust needed to help you accomplish your goals.
