Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Alabama who specializes in trauma and dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Other Specified Dissociative Disorders (OSDD). I work with individuals whose symptoms are often complex, confusing, or have not fully responded to previous therapy. Many of my clients experience internal conflict, emotional overwhelm, dissociation, or a sense that different parts of themselves react in different ways. These experiences can feel isolating, but they are also understandable responses to overwhelming life events.

My work focuses on helping clients develop stability, internal cooperation, and a stronger sense of identity while reducing trauma symptoms. I understand dissociation as a protective adaptation, not a flaw, and therapy is approached with respect, patience, and clinical precision.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent nearly two decades working with military families and individuals in high-stress environments, which shaped my understanding of resilience and human adaptation. Today I integrate professional training, trauma specialization, and life experience to help clients move toward meaningful healing.

Clients often describe me as calm, grounded, and easy to talk to. I prioritize creating a safe environment where people feel understood rather than judged. I work primarily with adults and older adolescents from diverse backgrounds. For clients who desire it, faith perspectives can be incorporated into treatment in a respectful and clinically appropriate way.

My approach to therapy

My approach is trauma-informed, structured, and individualized to each client’s needs. I focus on both stabilization and trauma processing, recognizing that healing involves nervous system regulation, emotional integration, and changes in how the brain stores and responds to past experiences.

I utilize evidence-based methods including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), cognitive and behavioral strategies, parts-focused therapy, and guided imagery. When working with dissociation or DID/OSDD, treatment often includes strengthening internal communication, improving emotional regulation, and processing traumatic memories in a paced and safe manner.

I also integrate advanced trauma-informed techniques designed to help clients reconnect with a sense of identity, reduce internal conflict, and increase daily functioning. Therapy is collaborative and goal-oriented, with an emphasis on measurable progress while respecting each client’s readiness.

My role is not to push clients faster than they are prepared to go, but to guide the process in a way that promotes safety, clarity, and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

The first session focuses on understanding your concerns, history, and goals while helping you feel comfortable with the therapy process. We will discuss what symptoms you are experiencing, how they affect your daily life, and what you hope to achieve through counseling.

If trauma or dissociation is part of your experience, I will help you begin making sense of those symptoms in a way that feels understandable rather than overwhelming. You are never required to share details before you feel ready.

I will also explain how treatment may work, answer questions, and begin identifying next steps. Many clients report feeling relief after the first session because they feel heard and understood in ways they may not have experienced before.

My priority is to create a safe, respectful starting point where you feel supported and hopeful about the path forward.
