Great to meet you!

I would like to start by saying, you are a brave individual to have identified an issue/issues in your life, and seek assistance to make positive changes that will help you be the person you can be. My name is Gretta, I am an LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor, and it is an honor to be considered as a potential partner on your journey.

I am a single mother of 5 children. I was raised in Southeast Idaho and have lived in Wyoming for 15 years. I enjoy being a mom, hiking, gardening, canning, hunting, crocheting/knitting, reading, writing, journaling, working out/exercising, and being outside. I am a Wyoming and Idaho based Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 7 years experience working with clients dealing with ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety/panic attacks, life changes, relationship challenges, family conflicts, and parenting issues.

My approach to therapy

My style of therapy is warm and personal. I work by getting to know you as a person since you are the expert on your own life. Together, we can jointly come up with goals and solutions that are going to work for you. I will treat you with sensitivity, respect, and warmth by getting to know you as a unique individual. The counseling theory I use is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I work with you to set goals and homework assignments each week to help you gain awareness and learn different ways to look at life, communication, and challenges. We will work through different life experiences, situations, Trauma, and trials you have been through to help you recognize what you have been through, process it, and work on moving forward on a positive path with the knowledge you have learned from your trials. I view the therapeutic alliance as a partnership requiring mutual trust, respect, honesty, communication, and commitment to do the work. Hopefully, what I have shared here will help you select the best fit for a therapist. It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I believe everyone has within themselves what they need and I am passionate about helping you find it. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on this mental health journey.

What you can expect from me

In our first session we will start at your pace. We will work on building a professional connection of respect and trust. We will talk about what has brought you to counseling. I will ask some questions about you, not like an interview or anything. It is a conversation. We will talk about past and present events that have lead you to seek someone to talk to. We will work toget her to come up with short term and long term goals. We will also discuss how often we will have sessions. This is a collaborative effort and we will work through this as a team. I look forward to meeting you!
