Dr. Gustavo Benejam

I am a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami FL. I enjoy working with clients to enrich their lives while resolving issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment to life events, relationship challenges, and self-development.

I am guided by my client’s unique needs and circumstances. I combine effective treatment approaches that include insight-oriented therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and EMDR to help you with your goals.

I received my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program at Albizu University in Miami. I completed my internship at the Faulk Center for Counseling. I have completed externships and received specialized training at various sites including Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Rehabilitation Psychology program, Florida Forensic Psychology, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

I offer all services fluently in both English and Spanish.

My approach always involves developing a deep understanding of you and your unique experience with warmth, non-judgment, and respect. Beyond targeting and improving your specific symptoms and providing you with effective coping skills, our work together will focus on enriching your life in a holistic way by increasing your awareness and self-understanding, improving your relationships with yourself and others, and connecting you with purpose and meaning.

During an initial session, I prioritize learning about you, your therapy goals and areas of concern, and relevant history that helps me understand you better. We will clarify your major concerns, identify goals together, and discuss how we can work together. It is equally important for you to get a feel for me and my style, as a good relational fit is essential for your therapeutic journey. I look forward to connecting!
