Great to meet you!

My name is Gwen Walthes and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have over 14 years of experience treating anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, and major life transitions. I've spent my career supporting at risk youth and adults in private practice, and much of my life was shaped by a military community, so I understand firsthand how family separation, frequent moves, and high stress environments affect mental health. Whether you're facing a specific struggle or just feel overwhelmed and unsure where to start, I offer a steady, supportive space to help you reconnect with your strengths and move forward with clarity.

My approach to therapy

Real change starts with honesty and a plan that fits your life. My approach blends cognitive behavioral strategies, stress management techniques, and trauma informed care to help you identify unhelpful thought patterns and untangle chronic stress responses. Together we'll build healthy coping skills tailored to your lifestyle. I take a grounded, collaborative stance, meaning you're never just a passive participant. Sessions are practical and judgment-free, mixing reflection with actionable tools you can use between appointments. My background working with military affiliated families and at risk populations gives me a deep appreciation for how culture, environment, and life circumstances shape mental health, and I bring that lens to every client relationship I build.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about getting comfortable. We'll start with a conversation where I learn about your history, current stressors, and what brought you to therapy, whether that's anxiety, depression, relationship tension, or a difficult transition. I'll ask questions, listen closely, and begin identifying patterns worth exploring together. You'll leave with a clearer sense of your goals and a collaborative plan for how we'll work toward them. There's no pressure to have it all figured out. I create a supportive, nonjudgmental space so you can be honest about what's really going on and start building toward lasting change.
