Great to meet you!

I'm Gwendolyn, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 25 years of experience helping individuals and couples heal and grow. I'm certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Critical Memory Integration (CMI), and much of my work draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS). I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples, and I also support adults (18+) facing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, and substance use. My work also includes relationships, identity, women's issues, cultural concerns, chronic illness and disability, stress, and end-of-life questions.

Whether you're dealing with current mental health challenges, wanting to understand how your past shapes your life today, or simply looking to feel more like yourself, I'm here to support your journey. I offer sessions online, so you can get support from wherever you feel most comfortable.

My approach to therapy

I believe in the power of connection and empathy to create meaningful change. Using a trauma-informed approach, we'll work together to build a trusting, empowering relationship where you can show up as your full self. Much of my work uses Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps you understand and heal the different parts of yourself. As a certified DBT therapist, I also teach practical skills for managing intense emotions, and I'm certified in Critical Memory Integration (CMI) for trauma healing. Depending on what you need, I also draw on CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based therapy. With couples, I use Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Behavioral Couples Therapy to help partners reconnect and communicate.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know each other and making sure you feel safe and comfortable. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what's been hardest lately, and what you'd like to be different. You're in control of what you share and how quickly we move, and there's no need to have it all figured out. By the end, we'll have a starting sense of your goals and how we'll work toward them together.
