Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Haley and I have been a LMFT in the WNY area for 5 years now, mainly focusing on couples and relationship therapy. I enjoy working with couples and individuals in navigating both nuance and complex relationship issues affecting their lives. I have training in Gottman style therapy which tends to be my main approach for couples, although other evidence-based therapies will often be used in sessions as well, such as attachment style work and emotionally focused therapy. I am also kink informed and poly welcoming.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is to meet clients where they are at and help them reach their goals through both evidence-based therapies and the therapeutic relationship itself. I hold clients accountable while also having grace for the struggles that may arise. When working with couples, I tend to take a more direct approach - providing psychoeducation and teaching communication skills to be used in their relationships. I assign homework to clients to work on during the week between sessions as a way to begin using these skills outside the therapy room. I approach therapy from a place of curiosity, working to learn and understand clients to the best of my ability in order to provide the most effective care during our time together.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will mainly consist of getting to know you, your history, what brings you to therapy, and how I can best help moving forward. We will begin discussing goals and exploring what has kept those goals from being previously achieved. If you are a couple seeking therapy, we will have a joint first session, followed by two individual sessions, and then returning to joint sessions unless unfit. All of this is to create space for all clients and make sure everyone feels equally understood and seen during our work together.
