Great to meet you!

I'm Halie Brown, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas, supervised by Dr. Carole Gilmore, LPC-S. I hold a BA in Psychology from Norfolk State University and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regent University, and I'm a National Certified Counselor and a member of the Texas Counseling Association.

I work with adolescents, teens, and adults, and I have a soft spot for high achievers running on fumes. If you're the person everyone leans on and you've quietly stopped leaning on anyone, we should talk. I also help with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and that stuck-at-a-crossroads feeling.

I grew up the oldest of seven in a military family, so I learned empathy, responsibility, and how to referee an argument before I could drive. I'm approachable and real, and I want you to have a place where you can say what you actually think without editing it first. All sessions are by secure telehealth for clients anywhere in Texas. Couch, parked car, any quiet room with a door. Just never while driving.

My approach to therapy

I believe you already carry most of the wisdom you need. My job is to help you find it under everything else that's piled on top. Our family history, environment, and the pressure we put on ourselves shape how we think and cope, and looking at those patterns together usually opens up better options than the ones you've been cycling through.

I use a practical blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused techniques, and elements of choice theory and narrative therapy. In plain English: we look at the beliefs and fears underneath your behaviors and relationships, we build skills you can actually use between sessions, and we keep the work pointed at what you want to change. You won't be handed a formula, and you won't be left wondering what the point was. You might occasionally get homework. I promise it's the useful kind.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a conversation, not a test. I'll ask what brought you in, what life looks like right now, a bit of your history, and what you'd like to be different by the time we're done. You don't need to have it figured out, and you don't have to share more than you're ready to. Nervous is normal. Most people are.

By the end of the hour, we'll have a clear sense of what to focus on and how often to meet, and we'll start sketching goals together. Most people leave feeling heard and a little lighter, with a plan for what comes next.

Fit matters, and it goes both ways. If I think someone else would serve you better, I'll tell you and help you find them. And if you decide I'm not your person, that's completely okay. No hard feelings, no awkward breakup. The goal is that you get help that works, whether it's from me or someone else.

If any of this sounds like what you've been looking for, book a session. Let's get started.
