Great to meet you!

I'm Hannah (Grae) Krodel (she/they), a board certified registered art therapist and licensed mental health counselor. I came to this work through my own experiences and those of people I love who've navigated mental health struggles and chronic illness, and that's given me a deep empathy for how heavy it can feel to carry something alone. I believe healing happens in a space where you feel genuinely seen and accepted, not fixed and not judged. I'm also a mixed-media artist, and creativity shapes how I understand people. I think much of what matters most is hard to put into words, and I like helping people find other ways to reach it. Above all, I meet you where you are. You don't have to have anything figured out before we begin, only be willing to slow down and start.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative, trauma-focused, and strengths-based. I draw from evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, ACT, and motivational interviewing, and I blend them with narrative, existential, and depth-oriented work, always shaped around you rather than a one-size-fits-all method. I pay close attention to your strengths and to the story you're living, and I work at a pace that honors what trauma-informed care asks for: safety, trust, and no rushing. What sets my practice apart is art therapy. I use creative expression to reach what words can't quite hold, and no art experience is needed for it to work. Whether we're talking, making, or some of both, the goal is the same: to help you make sense of what you're carrying and move toward a life that feels steadier and more your own.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really just about getting to know each other. There's no pressure to dive into the hardest things or to have your story neatly organized. I'll ask some questions to understand what's bringing you in, what you're hoping for, and what feels most important to you right now, but mostly I want you to get a feel for me and for what this space is like. Think of it as the beginning of a conversation, not a test. If art comes up, know that you never need any experience with it. It's simply one of the tools available to us, if and when it feels right. My hope is that you leave feeling a little more understood, and a little less alone with what you're carrying.
