Great to meet you!

Heather is motivated by a desire to help those who are struggling and focuses on helping people see their true worth, despite what they have experienced in the past. She is honored by those who share their story and invite her to walk their journey to healing alongside them. Heather places great importance on creating an effective and collaborative therapeutic relationship based on empathy and trust, and approaches her clients with compassion, appreciation, sensitivity and understanding.

My approach to therapy

Heather's counseling style is founded in a strength-based, client-centered approach utilizing EMDR, Mindfulness and Play Therapy. She uses other modalities, such as CBT, DBT and IFS to provide a well-rounded therapeutic experience. She has extensive and specialized training in trauma and attachment, and works with a wide variety of presenting issues, including emotional distress, parenting problems, and relationship issues. Heather has experience working with ages 3 years and older.

What you can expect from me

Heather approaches the first meeting as an introductory session, to better understand the needs of the client. She will ask questions about the presenting concerns, past experiences with therapy and what the client would like to gain from sessions. Heather involves the client to provide input on therapeutic goals and approaches to meeting them. At the end of the first session, Heather would like her clients to feel genuinely accepted and confident in moving forward in the therapeutic process.
