Great to meet you!

I am Heather M. Bowman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 16 years of experience supporting individuals through trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. I provide a compassionate, inclusive, and trauma-informed space where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and develop tools for meaningful change.

Outside of my clinical work, I have a deep appreciation for nature, poetry, avant-garde and classic cinema, and meaningful films that explore the human experience. I also have a deep appreciation for music and sound as powerful pathways for connection, reflection, and healing. I am a Reiki Master-Teacher and sound healing practitioner, which reflects my holistic perspective and appreciation for the connection between mind, body, and overall well-being. I believe music and sound can reach places beyond words, supporting emotional expression, mindfulness, relaxation, and deeper healing. I bring both clinical expertise and a genuine curiosity about each person's unique story into my work with clients.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and centered around each individual's unique needs, experiences, and goals. I work collaboratively with clients to explore current challenges, understand patterns that may impact their well-being, and develop practical tools for healing and growth. I incorporate psychoeducation to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and nervous system responses while emphasizing self-compassion, personal empowerment, and resilience. My approach integrates Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, somatic techniques, and EMDR to support clients in creating meaningful and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect an authentic, safe, supportive, and collaborative space where we begin getting to know one another, discuss their goals for therapy, and explore the challenges bringing them in. We will review relevant history, identify patterns and strengths, and begin developing an understanding of the factors impacting their well-being. I incorporate psychoeducation and practical coping tools when appropriate, while building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, compassion, and collaboration. My goal is for clients to leave feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer path toward healing, growth, and meaningful change.
