Great to meet you!

I work best with people who are ready to change because the discomfort of stress, anxiety, depression, and anger has worn out its welcome. Whether you know how to change is less important than your willingness to engage with this work. All people have a deep well of resources for healing and growth within them that life experiences and the noisy world cover up. The work, as I see it, is about regaining access to that well through attention to patterns of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Change how you relate to your inner life, and you can change anything.

My approach to therapy

I take a calm but active approach to therapy conversations. Each client learns a way to practice with attention and awareness so they become the agents of change for themselves. We take a thorough stock of what is most important and what gets in the way, so that clients have the ability to compose and embody a well-lived life story. I integrate many theories and modalities in this work. Specifically, mindfulness-based therapies like ACT and MBCT, narrative therapy, somatic therapies, and IFS.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I'd like to hear the story that brought you here and gain a broader understanding of the various contexts in which you live. We work with your story in each conversation, cultivating the capacities that will help you become more intentional, less reactive, and less stressed. I give homework, small things to practice between meetings, so you gain competence in the care of the self and confidence in the life you have ahead.
