Great to meet you!

Who you are matters to me — and I mean that in the most specific way. Your story, your nervous system, your family history, your relationship with yourself. Not a diagnosis. Not a checklist. You.

I'm Heather, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 24 years of experience supporting people through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and the quiet weight of just not feeling like yourself anymore. I offer telehealth therapy across Pennsylvania and Florida, which means you can access support from wherever you are — no commute, no waiting room.

My background is a little unconventional — I started in criminal justice before pursuing social work — and that dual lens gives me an unusually broad way of understanding people and the systems that shape them. I've worked alongside people in crisis, in grief, in deeply stuck places. I know what it looks like when someone is carrying trauma they've never named, and I know how to sit with you in that without flinching. My style is warm, grounded, and genuinely down to earth. People often tell me they feel comfortable talking about things they've never said out loud — that's the kind of space I try to create.

My approach to therapy

I believe healing happens across all dimensions of who you are — mind, body, and spirit. That sounds broad, but in practice it means I'm paying attention to more than just your thoughts. I'm curious about what your body holds, what your nervous system has learned, and what your inner world is trying to tell you.

Depending on what you're working through, I draw on several approaches. CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) helps us notice and shift the thought patterns that keep pulling you toward anxiety or self-doubt. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) helps you stop fighting your inner experience and start moving toward what actually matters to you. And IFS — Internal Family Systems therapy — is one I find especially powerful. It's built on the idea that we all have different "parts" of ourselves, some of which are doing their best to protect us in ways that no longer work. Getting curious about those parts, rather than fighting them, can be genuinely life-changing.

My goal is never to push you. I'll meet you exactly where you are, help you get unstuck from patterns that no longer serve you, and walk alongside you as you find your way forward. Real change comes from a safe, trusting relationship — and building that with you is my first priority.

What you can expect from me

First sessions can feel a little nerve-wracking — that's completely normal, and I want you to know there's nothing to prepare. This isn't a test and it's not an interrogation. It's a conversation.

We'll start by just talking. I'll ask what brought you to therapy, what's been weighing on you, and what you're hoping might be different. I genuinely want to understand your full picture — your life, your relationships, what's working and what isn't — so we can figure out together what kind of support will actually help. You set the pace.

By the end of our first session, my goal is that you leave feeling heard — maybe for the first time in a long time. We'll start mapping where you want to go, and we'll begin building the foundation for the work ahead. I'm really glad you're here.
