Great to meet you!

Dr. Heather Marshall is a licensed clinical psychologist who earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from DePaul University's College of Science and Health in Chicago, IL. She completed her foundational training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech and worked as a Staff Psychologist at a comprehensive DBT program in the Chicago area. Dr. Marshall has been trained in several evidenced based trauma treatments and has been practicing trauma treatment with clients throughout her training and career.

My approach to therapy

I balance warmth and validation with a direct approach in treatment. Coming from a DBT informed perspective, I aim to balance acceptance of where you are while simultaneously working toward change to help you reach your goals. I approach the therapeutic relationship from a collaborative stance. While I have the training and experience in psychology, you have the experience of living your life, in your shoes. I value your input in your treatment.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to gain insight into their behavioral patterns and learn tools to make change. They can expect to learn to listen to what their emotions are communicating to them and skills for managing emotions, participating in relationships effectively, and increasing awareness of the present moment. Clients can also expect to gain insight into how trauma experiences may be impacting their daily life and how to process these experiences to reduce PTSD symptoms and increase self-confidence.
